Analytical Chemist

Position Summary:

Self-motivated individual to support and develop our mass spectrometry laboratory and working group aimed at developing methods for the detection and discovery of clinical biomarkers in human fluids and developing the use of these markers into clinical applications.

Major Responsibility:
  • Initiates the design, development, execution and implementation of mass spectrometry methods to a broad range of clinical and research applications
  • Manages resources and personnel to efficiently meet project goals
  • Assists in establishing department goals and project timelines
  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, and contributes to scientific literature and conferences
  • Assists in the coordination of interdepartmental activities and research efforts
Minimum Requirements or Qualifications:
  • PhD, chemistry or related field (relevant experience can substitute).
  • Broad knowledge of mass spectrometry instrumentation and associated applications
  • Strong instrumentation design and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to dissect problems and projects into manageable tasks
  • Excellent group interaction skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to accurately plan and define projects
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities
Desired Qualifications:
  • Expert in MRM method development for small molecules using GCMS/MS and LCMS/MS instrumentation
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience to also contribute to ICP-MS and MALDI-TOF method development
  • Previous successful academic or industry experience mentoring technical staff
  • Experience working in GLP/GMP environment
  • Knowledge of CLIA
  • 2+ years industry experience preferred

Laboratory Assistant

Our commitment to assisting healthcare professionals in restoring patients’ health and wellness is unsurpassed with over 1.2 million specimens tested per year.

We are looking for a self-motivated, positive, and conscientious Laboratory Assistant.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Follow DiagnosTechs procedures for specimen handling, processing, and maintenance of records.
  • Perform all tasks safely and efficiently according to strict adherence to safety procedures and policies.
  • Be proactive in identifying problems that may adversely affect specimen processing, notifying the lab manager/supervisor, and correcting the problem as directed.
  • Complete all laboratory assigned duties and tasks within stated TAT (turnaround time) and notify the lab manager/supervisor when goals will not be achieved.
  • Perform and document required maintenance on equipment as assigned by lab manager/supervisor.
  • Display strong personal commitment to the overall success of the organization.  Demonstrate stewardship for the DiagnosTechs brand.
  • Follow all standards and procedures related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Required Qualification:
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some college science courses
  • Laboratory experience
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Computer literacy and familiarity laboratory equipment
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Able to resolve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.

This is a full time position working between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.  This position is eligible for medical benefits.

Laboratory Director for Clinical Laboratory High Complexity Laboratory, MD or Ph.D.  Required

DiagnosTechs is a pioneer and leader in saliva-based testing. We are looking for a Laboratory Director who will be responsible for the overall operation and administration of the Clinical Laboratory.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical laboratory regulations (CLIA) as well as additional regulatory experience with COLA, CAP or JHACO.  Experience in leading successful clinical laboratory inspections desired.

Requirements:
  • MD Pathologist or a Ph.D. (see below) with appropriate board certification to met CLIA requirements to be a high-complexity laboratory director or currently eligible to obtain
  • 5+ experience in working in a clinical laboratory environment
  • 2+ years experience in directing and supervising a high complexity testing laboratory
  • Experience with clinical regulatory requirements is required
For MD:
  • Must be certified in Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology
For Ph.D.:

The qualification for a laboratory director of high-complexity testing is that the laboratory director must hold an earned doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution and be currently certified by a board approved by HHS. The current approved boards are the following:

  • ABB – American Board of Bioanalysis
  • ABB public health microbiology certification
  • ABCC – American Board of Clinical Chemistry
  • ABCC 24-month Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry (COMACC)
  • ABFT – American Board of Forensic Toxicology
  • ABHI – American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics
  • ABMG – American Board of Medical Genetics
  • ABMLI – American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology
  • ABMM – American Board of Medical Microbiology
  • NRCC – National Registry of Certified Chemists
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assume overall responsibility for all laboratory processes as defined by administration
  • Serve as technical expert for the laboratory.  Be accessible to the laboratory and medical support staff during operating hours to answer questions, troubleshoot problems and participate in conference calls with providers or vendors.
  • Work closely with the Associate Laboratory Director, Laboratory Manager and Executive Committee to provide strategic plans and ideas to continuously improve the overall quality and services offered by the laboratory.  Develop new processes and procedures when necessary.
  • Review, develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to ensure high quality and timely processing and reporting of clinical samples
  • Ensure the laboratory is adequately staffed for efficient management of workloads
  • Ensure that all personnel have the appropriate education, experience, and perform all training and testing to verify that they maintain competency to run laboratory tests
  • Daily review of results before release to physicians and providers
  • Ensure all laboratory personnel are performing test methods according to standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken and documented if significant deviations from the laboratory’s established performance characteristics are identified
  • Make contributions to scientific literature, present at conferences and maintain an active involvement in all relevant scientific organizations.
  • Represent the laboratory at conferences and trade shows both in the United States as well as internationally
  • Assist in the selection and validation of new equipment for the laboratory
Qualifications:
  • Established ability to evaluate and produce reliable results, problem-solve and troubleshoot complex laboratory problems.
  • Proficient in the use of various software programs, including Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to foster a team environment that encourages a variety of thoughts and opinions
