Laboratory Director for Clinical Laboratory High Complexity Laboratory, MD or Ph.D.  Required

DiagnosTechs is a pioneer and leader in saliva-based testing. We are looking for a Laboratory Director who will be responsible for the overall operation and administration of the Clinical Laboratory.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical laboratory regulations (CLIA) as well as additional regulatory experience with COLA, CAP or JHACO.  Experience in leading successful clinical laboratory inspections desired.

Requirements:
  • MD Pathologist or a Ph.D. (see below) with appropriate board certification to met CLIA requirements to be a high-complexity laboratory director or currently eligible to obtain
  • 5+ experience in working in a clinical laboratory environment
  • 2+ years experience in directing and supervising a high complexity testing laboratory
  • Experience with clinical regulatory requirements is required
For MD:
  • Must be certified in Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology
For Ph.D.:

The qualification for a laboratory director of high-complexity testing is that the laboratory director must hold an earned doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution and be currently certified by a board approved by HHS. The current approved boards are the following:

  • ABB – American Board of Bioanalysis
  • ABB public health microbiology certification
  • ABCC – American Board of Clinical Chemistry
  • ABCC 24-month Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry (COMACC)
  • ABFT – American Board of Forensic Toxicology
  • ABHI – American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics
  • ABMG – American Board of Medical Genetics
  • ABMLI – American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology
  • ABMM – American Board of Medical Microbiology
  • NRCC – National Registry of Certified Chemists
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assume overall responsibility for all laboratory processes as defined by administration
  • Serve as technical expert for the laboratory.  Be accessible to the laboratory and medical support staff during operating hours to answer questions, troubleshoot problems and participate in conference calls with providers or vendors.
  • Work closely with the Associate Laboratory Director, Laboratory Manager and Executive Committee to provide strategic plans and ideas to continuously improve the overall quality and services offered by the laboratory.  Develop new processes and procedures when necessary.
  • Review, develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to ensure high quality and timely processing and reporting of clinical samples
  • Ensure the laboratory is adequately staffed for efficient management of workloads
  • Ensure that all personnel have the appropriate education, experience, and perform all training and testing to verify that they maintain competency to run laboratory tests
  • Daily review of results before release to physicians and providers
  • Ensure all laboratory personnel are performing test methods according to standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken and documented if significant deviations from the laboratory’s established performance characteristics are identified
  • Make contributions to scientific literature, present at conferences and maintain an active involvement in all relevant scientific organizations.
  • Represent the laboratory at conferences and trade shows both in the United States as well as internationally
  • Assist in the selection and validation of new equipment for the laboratory
Qualifications:
  • Established ability to evaluate and produce reliable results, problem-solve and troubleshoot complex laboratory problems.
  • Proficient in the use of various software programs, including Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to foster a team environment that encourages a variety of thoughts and opinions

Clinical Microbiologist

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Microbiology Operations, this position will assist in the daily operations of a busy clinical and research microbiology department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the verification of test procedures performed as directed by Director of   Microbiology Operations
  • Maintain a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed and established parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance. Ensure the levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process
  • Assist in resolving technical issues and ensuring that the correct remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications
  • Ensure that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been completed and the test system is functioning properly
  • Make observations of routine patient test performance, including specimen preparation, processing and testing.
  • Assist with monitoring the recording and reporting of test results
  • Review intermediate test results or worksheets, quality control records, proficiency testing results and preventive maintenance records
  • Assist with observation of instrument maintenance and function checks
  • Assist with the assessment of test performance through testing previously analyzed specimens, internal blind testing samples or external proficiency testing samples
  • Monitor preparations for Laboratory Inspections by CAP, TJC, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Client Services Representative

Position Summary:

DiagnosTechs Laboratory is seeking a Client Service Representative to handle customer service and client relations.  The ideal candidate should be outgoing, people oriented, and willing to go the extra mile in providing service to our providers and customers.  Client Services Representatives answer questions from patients and providers about saliva-based testing kits, review medical paperwork, and make appointments for our Medical Support staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Professionally handle a large number of incoming calls from patients and providers and ensure that questions are answered courteously, promptly and thoroughly
  • Provide extraordinary customer service for all phone and email inquiries
  • Responsible for detailed review of medical paperwork
  • Schedule educational consultations between providers and Medical Support staff
  • Follow up on company inquiries to providers or patients that have not been immediately resolved
  • Accurately process provider’s orders for patient test kits
  • Recognize when it is necessary to escalate patient or provider concerns to a Manager or Director
  • Follow all HIPAA and company guidelines on requests for release of medical information
  • Maintain a net, clean and professional personal appearance and observe the dress code established by the company
  • Perform all other duties required by management
Requirements or Qualifications:

Patient Account Representative

Position Summary:

The Patient Account Representative processes claims, addresses overdue accounts, and resolves collection disputes.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming billing and insurance related phone calls and emails in a courteous manner
  • Collect outstanding balances with patients by making outgoing calls and receiving incoming calls.
  • Collect and post patient payments
  • Respond to collection disputes
  • Perform data entry and verification of Medicare and insurance demographics
  • Review and evaluate incoming requisition forms
  • Assist the Insurance Coordinators in their daily job functions
  • Perform all other duties required by the Department Manager
Requirements or Qualifications:
  • Strong personal management skills, including time management, planning, organizing and delivery of results
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone with insurance carriers, patients, providers, and co-workers
