Diagnose a Cyclospora Infection (Cyclosporiasis) with DiagnosTechs Parasite Testing

Stool microscopy test. Diagnose Parasitic Cyclospora infection (Cyclosporiasis)Does DiagnosTechs Offer a Test to Diagnose Cyclosporiasis?

Yes, as noted in the Complete GI Parasite List, the parasitology team will report Cyclospora spp. when present in a stool sample submitted to the laboratory. Because Cyclospora shedding can be intermittent, examination of multiple stool samples will improve diagnostic sensitivity. Collecting and testing at least two, and ideally three or more, stool samples collected on separate days may help reduce the likelihood of a false-negative test result.

To diagnose cyclosporiasis, we recommend ordering one or more of the Ova and Parasites (O&P) tests, which include:

  • Extended Ova and Parasites Panel™ (GP10S)
  • Comprehensive Ova and Parasites Panel™ (GP9S)
  • Ova and parasites, three samples (GP2B)
  • Ova and parasites, two samples, pooled (GP2)
  • Ova and parasites, one sample (GP1)

Please note that all GI Health Panels also include the GP2 (Ova and Parasites, two samples, pooled) test. For further assistance with test selection, kindly schedule a Medical Support Consultation in your Provider Portal at your earliest convenience.
